Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who can apply?
A: The Blakeman Gerber Indianapolis International Baroque Competition is open to solo string, wind, and harpsichord instrumentalists under the age of 32.

Q: What are the prizes?
A: Prizes include the $15,000 Devona and Amos Gerber Prize and other cash awards, opportunities to perform on the IndyBaroque Music BGIIBC Laureate Series. All Finalists will receive a medal, and all finalists except the Gerber Prize winner will receive a $1000 Laureate Award.

Q: Does the full 15-20 minutes need to be one take, or just each individual piece?
A: Each individual piece needs to be unedited, but the full 15-20 minute video  recording may contain multiple unedited recordings.

Q: I live outside of the United States, what will I need to travel to the competition if selected to performa as a finalists?
A: You will be responsible for obtaing your visa based on where you are from. Finalists will be notified by mid-March about their acceptance. If you are worried that is too little time to obtain a visa, email admin@baroquecompetition.org for more questions.
